Delane C. Peck, 88, of Palmer died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday at the Wesleyan Church in Palmer. The Reverend Joseph Cissell will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Palmer Wesleyan Church or the Palmer Fire Department.
Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer is in charge of arrangements.
In memory of Delane's love for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, everyone is encouraged to wear Husker attire.
Delane was born May 15, 1926 on the family farm south of Palmer to Darwin and Esther (Glause) Peck.
He was raised near Palmer and attended school in District 45 south of Palmer until his family moved to Clarks in the late 1930's.
Delane farmed with his father near Clarks. After his father died, he continued to farm near Clarks until moving to Palmer in the late 1960's.
While in Palmer he hauled garbage and then worked for Dinsdale's at the fertilizer plant during the farming season. Delane worked at the Palmer Landfill, for Weldon Hake and also mowed for the Village of Palmer, using an Allis Chalmers belly mower. He also sold Stanley Products.
He moved to Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City in 2011.
Delane loved to follow the Husker football team. He had a great sense of humor. Delane was the Nebraska Nursing Facility Association's Resident of the Year in 2013 while he was a resident at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City.
He was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Palmer and an honorary member of the Palmer Fire Department, helping where he could and selling tickets for different fund raisers.
Survivors include two sisters, Viola Eckstrom of Palmer and Arlene Steinke of Tulsa, OK and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Delmon, Oliver, and Wayne Peck and two sisters, Iva Freeland and Claretta Ita.
