Deana Marie Hancock, 63, of St. Paul, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family, after fighting her courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul. Pastor Susan Murithi will be officiating. Interment will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated to cancer research.
Deana was born on July 2, 1957 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Dale Dean & Lois (Reimers) Jarman. She grew up in and around the Grand Island and St. Paul area. She received her education at St. Paul Public School. She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Hancock, Jr. on July 21, 1973 in St. Paul at the family farm
Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Her home was welcome to all including foster children and all of her children’s friends. She enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, sewing, gardening and cooking. Along with her family and friends, she will be greatly missed by her dogs, Sweetie, Deedee, Jed, & Tinker.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Tammy (Scott) Skrdla of Litchfield, Chad (Carrie) Hancock of St. Paul, Katie (Donny) Poss of Elba, Benjamin (Jessica) Hancock of St. Paul; significant other, Rick Koger of St. Paul; grandchildren, Jamie Elrod of Kearney, Elizabeth (Lucas) Mendyk of Kearney, Joseph Ptacnik, Walker, & Dawson Skrdla of Litchfield, Dalton,Taylor, & Jordyn Poss of Elba, Emily & Carter Hancock of St. Paul, Caleb Hancock of St. Paul; 1 great-grandson on the way; sister, Debra Farrell of Clarkston, Washington; her partner in crime aka “Louise” Connie Hancock of Elba; and numerous loved ones that will forever cherish her memory.
Deana was preceded in death by husband, Robert Hancock, Jr; her parents, Bob & Lois Long; infant son, Adam Luke Hancock; brothers, Rick & Terry Jarman.
