Dale W. Wegner, 92, of Archer died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Palmer. Reverend Martha Voigt will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.
Visitation will be on Monday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wegner was born August 31, 1924 on a farm west of Archer to Frank and Anna (Retzlaff) Wegner.
Dale attended school in Archer until age 16 when he quit to work on the family farm because of the ill health of his father.
Dale was united in marriage to Helen Schlueter on June 30, 1949 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer.
He farmed all of his life west of Archer. In 1982 his family received the Aksarben award for owning the family farm for 100 years. He retired from farming in 1975.
In 2015 he moved to Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Dale loved to be around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attend their activities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Dale and Helen liked to go camping and boating.
Dale and Helen enjoyed hosting many family events and holiday get togethers where many pitch card games were played. They also enjoyed taking trips to the casino.
As a farmer for all of his life, Dale enjoyed tinkering with different projects on the farm.
Survivors include his wife, Helen living in Brookefield Park in St. Paul; three granddaughters and spouses, Andrea & Jamie Halladay of North Bend, Kristin Nicholas of Archer, and Victoria & Lynsey Moline of Blair; five great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Alaina and Ava Halladay and Kane and Kellen Kucera.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Margaret Nicholas; and a sister, Mae Blank.
