Dale L. Schmidt, 63 of St. Paul, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2024, with his loved ones by his side at CHI Health - St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church in St. Paul. Pastor Daniel Bear will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church in St. Paul, and also 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Inurnment will be held in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Dale was born May 22, 1960, to John G. & Lila "Faye" (Riggs) Schmidt in Kearney, Nebraska. He grew up in the rural Franklin area and graduated from Hildreth High School. He was baptized as an infant, confirmed as a child, and baptized again as an adult. Dale married Tammie Carr on June 12, 1982, and they had one son, Travis John, (whom after they departed ways), was adopted by his stepfather, Jim Binderup.
Dale married Barbara Toyne on May 5, 1990, and to this union, they had two sons, Thomas Dale and Raymond Edward. Dale was blessed with a bonus son, (of Barb’s) adopting, Jeremiah David. Dale was active with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. When Dale & Barb moved to St. Paul, Dale drove truck until his health forced him to stop. He had worked at Jim’s Champlin Truck Stop, for many years until his death. He enjoyed visiting with the customers, fishing, and spending time with his granddaughter, Lily.
Dale is survived by his wife, Barb; sons, Travis Binderup of Kenesaw, Jeremiah Schmidt of Kearney, Thomas Schmidt of Grand Island, and Raymond Schmidt of Waco; granddaughters, Lilith (Lily) of Grand Island and Braelynn of Waco; sister, Lori Wagner of Palm Harbor, Florida; mother-in-law, Maxine Walker of Gering, sisters-in-law, Kathy (Jorge) Sanchez, Meredith Toyne of Chappell, Carla Danitschek of Everett, Washington, brothers-in-law, Michael Toyne of Gering, Jeff Lee of Minden, Bob Cherry of Hildreth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Karen Lee and Fayelynn Cherry.
