Dale F. Gress, 96, of Palmer passed away October 26, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island surrounded by family. He had resided on the family farm northeast of Palmer up until a few weeks prior to his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday at First Church of Christ in Palmer. The Reverend Jerry Quandt will officiate. Interment will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday at Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Dale was born December 29, 1914 in Belgrade, Nebraska to Milo & Anna Pearl (Darling) Gress.
He was educated and spent most of his life in Merrick and Nance counties. He graduated from Palmer High School in 1932.
He entered the United States military. There he became a medic in the military during WWII.
Upon returning home, he married his life long companion LaVonne Wymer on December 29, 1943. Together they farmed just outside of Palmer and were blessed in life with six children.
Dale became a Mason on April 6, 1945 and was pleased to receive his 60 year pin in 2005. He was a member of the Lone Tree Masonic Lodge.
Dale had a hobby of woodworking and made many treasures for friends and family. One of his greatest pleasures was working the land and raising cattle and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his five children, Alvin & wife Elizabeth Gress of Sacremento, CA; Keith Gress of Kearney; Linda & husband Kenneth Reed of Silver Creek; Eugene Gress of Palmer; Lora & husband Roger Miller of Sutton; a son-in-law, Michael Ough of Elkhorn; eleven grandchildren, Michelle Williamson of Omaha; Michael (Carrie) Ough of Elkhorn; Ramona (Tim) Nelson of Albert Lea, MN, Tonya (Luke) Helmers of Sioux Center, IA, Melissa (Ryan) Hance of Mission City, KS, Mikayla (George) Whipp of Kearney, Lyndsay (Von) Scholes of Pocatello, ID, Matt (Audrey) Gress of Brighton, CO, Jack (Bridget) Reed of David City, Adam Miller of Kearney & Theodore Gress of Sacramento, CA; toward the end of his life enjoyed the love of his thirteen great grandchildren; one sister Ida Christensen of Lincoln, NE;
Dale is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife LaVonne; a daughter, Darlene (Gress) Ough; a sister Hattie Andersen and a brother Stanley Gress.
