Clinton A. Peterson, 80, of St. Paul died Monday, November 15, 2010 at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Wolbach. The Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate. A time to sign Clinton's book and visit with the family will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Inurnment will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. The Reverend Norval Holtmeier will officiate with military honors by the Nebraska and North Platte Honor Guards.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Hospice.
Clinton was born February 16, 1930 to Floyd & Bessie (Thompson) Peterson at Nance County, Nebraska.
He was raised in the Howard, Merrick and Nance County area. He attended school in Howard and Merrick counties.
He helped his dad on the farm. Clinton entered the US Army on February 15, 1949. He was honorably discharged on June 17, 1952.
Clinton was united in marriage to Marjorie L. "Bonnie" Nerly on March 9, 1952 at Wolbach, Nebraska.
Clinton worked in the Grand Island Ordinance Plant for a couple of years. He also farmed on the Howard & Merrick County line east of Wolbach for a couple of years. He then moved to southeast Iowa and lived for 23 years. Clinton lived in Hannibal, Missouri for 12 years. He moved to St. Paul, Nebraska in 1992 and lived there since.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a member of the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul.
Clinton is survived by one son & daughter-in-law, Eric & Joanne Peterson of Acworth, Georgia; one daughter, Cindy Tucker of Dubuque, Iowa; five grandchildren; two sisters, Lila Pedersen of St. Paul and Doris Page of Sun City, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marjorie "Bonnie" Peterson on July 2, 2008, four sisters Betty Pedersen, Bernice Steinke, Beulah Jensen and Letha Barth.
