Clifford Pedersen

April 7, 1925 — May 25, 2017

Clifford Pedersen 92, of Elba was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul.  Reverend George Matthews will officiate.

Interment will be in Elba Cemetery in Elba with military honors by the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul.

Visitation will be on Monday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dannevirke Church to maintain its beauty and historical value, the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Elba Cemetery or donor’s preference.

Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Clifford was born on the family farm in Dannevirke, NE on April 7, 1925 to Vilhelm and Inger (Dorscheus) Pedersen.

In 1945 Clifford enlisted in the Navy.  He served active duty until 1946 as a naval welder in the Construction Battalion, receiving Victory Medal.  Following honorable discharge, Clifford remained in the Naval Reserves until 1950.

Following his discharge, he returned to the Dannevirke area and began farming.

On June 4, 1947, he married Donna Vance.  To this union was born two children, Maryann Fern in 1949 and Roger David in 1952.  Clifford and Donna ran a successful cattle feeding operation until 1975.  During the mid-50’s Clifford began his trucking business, retiring in 2010. In 1975 Clifford and Donna moved to Elba.

Clifford was a member of the Dannevirke Lutheran Church, followed by St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul, and a member of the St. Paul American Legion Post 119 for over 50 years. He was one of the founders and an active member of the Howard County Feeders and Breeders.

Survivors include his wife Donna, living at Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City; one daughter, Maryann (Franklin) Eurek of Arcadia, one daughter-in-law Marcia Pedersen of Plattsmouth; four grandchildren, Jennifer Eurek, Jeff (Carrie) Eurek, Travas (Erin) Pedersen, and David (Nancy) Pedersen; five great-grandchildren, Ethan Brodersen, Carleigh Eurek, Jensen Eurek, August Pedersen, and Harper Pedersen.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Roger; great-grandson, Carter Eurek; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jens, Carl (Belle Nora) and Albert (Betty Jean); four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kristine Pedersen, Lillian (Harold) Windolph, Emma (Virgil) Leth and an infant sister.
