Chrystal L. Glinsmann

Chrystal Glinsmann, 64, of Ashton died Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Thomas Clark will officiate. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Chrystal was born April 4, 1947 in Bloomfield, NE to Claus and Luella (Zorn) Friedrichsen. She attended school at District 115 in Knox County and then Bloomfield High School where she graduated in 1965.

After her schooling, she worked as a waitress.

In 1966 she was united in marriage to Donald Nettleton in Bloomfield. The couple lived in Bloomfield, Hoskins, and Carroll where Chrystal was a homemaker.

In 1975, she moved to St. Paul where she worked as a caregiver to help take care of elderly people in their homes. She also worked as a cook at the Howard County Hospital.

On April 20, 1991 she was united in marriage to Melvin Glinsmann in St. Paul. The couple lived on a farm near Ashton. Chrystal continued her work as a caregiver and cook.

Her husband Melvin died on October 3, 1994. Chrystal continued to live on the farm near Ashton until recently when ill health forced her to move into Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.

Chrystal loved her family and people. She was a kind person with a good sense of humor. She enjoyed dogs and cats and taking care of sick animals and after her husband's death, she continued to take care of his dog, Leo and then her own dog Tilly. She loved to play bingo and read books, especially novels.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul and the American Legion Auxiliary

Survivors include two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Monty Mrkvicka of Farwell and Delcy and Jim Schneider of Archer; a step-son, Lonnie "Bear" Glinsmann and his special friend, Patty Covert of Rigby, ID; four step-grandchildren, Conner and Amanda Schneider and Thomas and Mikayla Mrkvicka; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Chaseley and Marie Friedrichsen of Sagamore, MA, Douglas Friedrichsen and Millard Friedrichsen, both of Pierce, NE, Morris and Vonnie Friedrichsen of Muscatine, IA and Paul and Marcia Friedrichsen of Aurora; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marvin and Norma Glinsmann of Ashton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; a brother, Kenneth Friedrichsen and infant brother, Eldon.
