Carol A. Moon, 80, of St. Paul died Saturday, December 24, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Randy Dilts will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery with military honors by the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Children's Home Society in Omaha, National Rifle Association, Libertarian Party, St. Paul EMT's or to the donors choice.
Carol was the adopted son of Jesse and Norma (Palmer) Moon. He was born April 7, 1931 in Omaha.
He was raised and attended school in Belgrade graduating in 1948. After high school he studied electronics at an Omaha trade school. Except for two years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps he worked as a radio technician. Carol then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
Carol was united in marriage to Peggyjane Scranton in Sidney, NE on August 2, 1963.
In 1962 he farmed in Nance County until 1969. The couple then moved to St. Paul.
Carol then began working at the New Holland plant until retiring in 1990.
His wife Peggyjane died on July 3, 1978.
Carol continued to live in St. Paul for the remainder of his life.
Carol an avid book reader and liked doing crossword puzzles. He was a gun lover and enjoyed muzzle loading. He knew a lot about history and had a good sense of humor.
He was a member of the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul and a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Curtis Kuchta of St. Paul and Rebecca and Ray Andersen of Grand Island; four grandchildren, Marcus Collins and his wife, Stevi of Cheyenne, WY, Andrew, Aaron, and Chelsea Andersen of Grand Island; and a great-grandson, Axel Collins.
His was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Peggyjane.
