Carol J. Hormann, 63, of St. Paul died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at her home in St. Paul with her family by her side.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday at the Full Circle Venue, 1010 Diers Ave in Grand Island. Chaplain Steve Shanno will officiate.
There will not be any visitation, Mrs. Hormann was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hormann was born August 1, 1949 in Aurora to Elzie, Jr. and Betty (Umbenhower) Crawford.
She attended Harvard High School where she graduated in 1966.
Carol was united in marriage to Earl Wayne Hormann on June 16, 1967 in Stockham, NE. To this union three children were born.
The couple lived in numerous towns in Nebraska.
In 1991 she attended Central Community College and also took online courses, receiving her degree in Psychology. Carol was employed for the Crisis Center in Grand Island until her health declined.
The last three years the couple lived in St. Paul to be close to their daughters.
Carol loved riding horses, bowling, gardening, roller skating, planning parties, birthdays and holidays. She had been a majorette and baton twirler. Carol was very active with her family and friends and she loved to have holidays at her home. She also enjoyed camping, BBQ's, and get togethers.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Wayne of St. Paul; her mother, Betty Valasek of Genoa; one son, Michael Hormann of Grand Island; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Travis Lee and Melanie and Allen Hansen, all of St. Paul; nine grandchildren, Daniel Hormann and his wife Jamie, Cortney, Laken, Alex, Madison, Mathew, Owen, Trenton and Preston; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Butcher of Lebanon, MO.
Carol is preceded in death by her father, Elzie, Jr and a brother, Thomas Crawford.
