Carl R. Johns, 35, of St. Paul died Thursday, April 1, 2015 at his home in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Ray Kosmicki will officiate.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., with a wake service held at 7:00 p.m., Monday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mr. Johns was born August 7, 1979 to Ronald D. & Rachelle (Smolik) Johns, Sr., in Denver, Colorado.

He was baptized in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul.

He was raised in St. Paul and attended schools in St. Paul and attended Grand Island Senior High during his junior and senior years and graduated in 1998. During his years at GISH he made the honor roll.

Carl was united in marriage to Janet Applegarth on September 22, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul.

He worked as a mill right assistant and residential construction for Hayes Construction in Grand Island.

Carl enjoyed activities in the outdoors such as fishing, camping, golfing. He loved children and was an artistic person and could draw people and flowers. He had a sense of humor.

He is survived by his children, Bryan Applegarth, John Tyler Applegarth, Thomas Johns and Sydney Johns all of Ravenna, Justin Case Mannion of Omaha, Natallie Johns of Petersburg and Geovanna Belle of Omaha; his parents, Ronald & Rachelle Johns of St. Paul; one grandmother, Cordelia Smolik of Lakewood, CO; one brother & sister-in-law, Ronald & Threasa "Chainsaw" Johns of Grand Island; two sisters, Tammy Johns of St. Paul and Cordelia "Dede" Johnson of Hordville; aunts and uncles; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carl is preceded in death by a daughter, Mia Rose Lukowski; two grandfathers, Otto Smolik and Jay Johns; and grandparents, Marjorie & Samuel Kelly Ambler.
