Bryan Christensen

Bryan Christensen, 76, of Dannebrog died Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Tiffany Square in Grand Island.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30p.m., Saturday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog. The Reverend Sheri Lodel will officiate. Inurnment will be in Loup Fork Cemetery west of Dannebrog.

There will not be any visitation, Mr. Christensen's wishes were to be cremated.

Memorials are suggested to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Health Connect at Home Hospice or the family's choice.

Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Christensen was born April 28, 1937 on a farm near Nysted to George and Helen (Hald) Christensen.

Bryan attended District #47 and Nysted elementary schools and then Dannebrog High School where he graduated in 1955.

Bryan was united in marriage to Lola Throop on August 10, 1958 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog.

He attended Kearney State College where he received his BA degree in 1959 and his MA degree in 1967.

Bryan began his career teaching English in Boelus in 1959 and continued his teaching in Grand Island at Walnut Junior High School from 1960-1972.

Bryan started crop adjusting in 1960 and continued in the crop insurance business until 2013. He was also an agent for Scandinavian Mutual Insurance Company.

In 1970 they bought a farm near Dannebrog and lived there for the remainder of his life.

Bryan was a Dad who taught Jeff, Joel and Julie to be honest, hard-working people and how to be good parents.

Bryan loved his grandchildren and was so proud of all their accomplishments.

He liked old cars and antique tractors. He also enjoyed visiting with his friends and the many friendships he made during his years in the insurance business.

He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog.

Survivors include his wife, Lola of Dannebrog; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Holly Christensen of Dannebrog and Joel and Becky Christensen of Fruitland, IA; and daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Roger Norton of Beatrice; six grandchildren, Joshua and his wife Supraja, Meagan, Heather, Heidi and her husband Coy, Shelby and Jacob; a sister, Janet Fenton of Grand Island; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Vern and Dorothy Throop of Grand Island.

Bryan is preceded in death by his parents.
