Bonnie J. Vazquez

July 16, 1965 — February 28, 2017

Bonnie J. Vazquez, 51, of Kearney died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Kearney.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.  Reverend Marcia Dorn will officiate.

Visitation will be on Friday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

Bonnie was born July 16, 1965 in St. Paul to Willard and Valeria (Brahatcek) Ross.

Bonnie attended school in Loup City and then St. Paul where she graduated in 1983.

She worked at the Nebraska Veterans Home and Wedgewood Care Center as a caregiver.

Bonnie took classes in Computer Technology at Central Community College in Columbus.

She was united in marriage to Juan Vazquez on February 3, 2001 in Dakota City, NE.

The couple lived in Norfolk for ten years where Bonnie worked at home for Better Trades and then at IBP.

They moved to Grand Island where Bonnie worked at McDonalds and then Amigos.

For the past four years, they lived in Kearney where Bonnie was employed at Sonic and Wendy’s.

Bonnie was a great mom and grandma to her family and she loved to bring treats and gifts for everyone.  She had a big heart, helping people whenever she could.  She enjoyed cooking and being a homemaker.  Bonnie liked to sing, no one ever knew when she would begin singing, being the “star of the show”.

Bonnie enjoyed fishing and gardening, she had a green thumb, being able to nurse a sick plant back to life and she loved animals.

While in Norfolk she was a member of the Mormon Church.

Survivors include her husband, Juan of Kearney; three sons, Brandon Ross of Hastings, Andrew Ross of Kearney and Christopher Ayala of Kearney; one daughter, Veleriana Garcia of Kearney; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Blaine Ross and Mendy of Palmer, Bart Ross of Grand Island and Billie Ross of Hastings; one sister, Barbara Davis and her husband Brandon of Grand Island; and a daughter-in-law, Leila Daisley of Grand Island.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
