Betty Jane Tockey

Betty Jane Tockey, 77, of Boelus, was called to home on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, Nebraska.

Due to weather, the Celebration of Betty’s Life will be postponed. Details will follow. Memorials and flowers are directed to the family (in care of Teresa Tockey, 907 North Saunders Avenue, Hastings NE, 68901.

Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul is assisting the family.

Betty was born on March 28, 1946, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Dan and Elsie Nash. Later the family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where Betty went to school. She met her husband, Charles at a carnival.  They moved around a lot until settling in Boelus.

Betty enjoyed helping people, which made her job in the medical field very rewarding.  The job she enjoyed the most was as an in-home aide.  Betty enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing BINGO, and going to casinos.  Her favorite color was purple, and she loved butterflies.   She was a Betty Boop fan and John Wayne was her hero.

Betty is survived by her husband, Charles T. Tockey of Sutton, NE;  children, Robert D. Tockey of Fairfield, NE, Charles T. Tockey of Hastings, NE, James J. Tockey and his wife, Lena of Hastings, and Teresa L. Tockey and her husband, Ray of Hastings; sisters and brother-in-law, Mitize and Kenneth Dursteler of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Carol Martindale of Morristown, AZ; brothers and sister-in-law, Gerald “Jerry" and Eula Nash of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Elmer "Ace" Nash of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Elsie Nash; sister, Melva "Jennie” Anderson; brother, Johnny Nash; and lifelong friend, Joyce Lampmen.
