Berniece L. Koperski

June 15, 1936 — March 20, 2016

Berniece L. Koperski, 79, of St. Paul died Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul.  Father Rayappa Konka will officiate.  A family committal service will be held in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Elba.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 28 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul with a wake service at 6:00 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

Berniece, the daughter of James and Mary (Grayek) DeMary, was born June 15, 1936 in St. Libory.

She attended St. Paul Schools where she graduated in 1955.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Howard County Community Hospital.

She was united in marriage to Leonard Koperski on September 28, 1956 in St. Libory.

The couple moved to Washougal, Washington where their daughter Sheila was born.  Five years later they moved back to St. Paul where the couple’s other four children were born.

Berniece volunteered teaching Bible School and worked for Health Care taking care of the elderly.

She enjoyed her family and grandkids.  She loved to sew, raise a garden and cook.

Berniece was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elba.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard of St. Paul; two sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and LaDonna Koperski of St. Paul and Mike and Heather Koperski of Farwell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Missy and Mac Chavez of Grand Island and Karen and Jay Obermiller of St. Paul; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister, Beverly Miller of Camas, WA.
