Anthony "Tony" L. Czaplewski

January 28, 1938 — November 11, 2016

Anthony L. “Tony” Czaplewski, 78, of St. Paul died Friday, November 11, 2016 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.  Father Rayappa Konka will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

Tony was born January 28, 1938 in Loup City to Bernard and Nellie (Mendyk) Cazplewski.

Tony was raised in Loup City and attended Loup City schools, graduating in 1955.

After graduation Tony began working at the Gambles store in Loup City and then Ray’s Market.

Tony was united in marriage to Vonnie Celmer on May 12, 1960 in Loup City.

The couple moved to St. Paul in 1962 and began working for the Debus Bread Co.  In the mid 1970’s he began working for Jacob’s Motor Co., working as a gas attendant, in sales and the parts department.

Tony worked at Wheeler’s in Grand Island beginning in the early 1980’s and then in the NAPA store in St. Paul until the late 1990’s.  He worked for Norm Keller until 2001 when health issues forced him to retire.

Tony enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping.  He also bowled for many years and he held a private pilot’s license.  Tony especially liked family reunions.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul.

Survivors include his wife, Vonnie of St. Paul; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Rachel Czaplewski of Grand Island; three daughters and a son-in-law, Terri Czaplewski of Custer, SD, Jacki Bush and Randy Berst of St. Paul, and Sheri and Travis Freeman of Grand Island; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Al Czaplewski of Lincoln.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Dana Carr; a sister, Dorothy Wajckus; and seven brothers, Ben, Bob, Louis, Dick, Jim, Tom, and Ron Czaplewski.
