Andrew L. Harvey, 52, of Grand Island died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Golden Living Center Park Place in Grand Island.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Father Ray Kosmicki will officiate. A family inurnment will be held in Souleville Cemetery near Boelus with military honors by the Schipman Mogensen American Legion Post #201 of Boelus.
Memorials in Mr. Harvey's memory are suggested to the family's choice and may be sent in care of Danielle Starkey, 809 S. B Road, Doniphan, NE 68832.
Mr. Harvey was born November 13, 1957 in Santa Monica, CA to George H. and Helen L. (Mlnarik) Harvey, Jr. He attended school in Central City where he graduated in 1976.
Andrew entered the U.S. Army on June 24, 1977. He received an expert citation in rifle and hand grenades. Andrew spent part of his time in the Army stationed in Hawaii. He received his discharge on July 13, 1979.
After his military service, he worked as a laborer for several construction companies and also did some trucking.
Andrew became disabled and then he worked at several different jobs in Grand Island.
He loved to going fishing, hunting, camping and airplanes. He had a special love of cooking and canning, especially pasta, noodles, canning pickles and jelly and making pumpkin pies. He also enjoyed watching movies, electric trains, woodworking and working on all types of small engines. He had a special enjoyment of working with ceramics and leather, making numerous gifts for his family.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Danielle (Kent) Starkey of Doniphan and Jessalynn Kay (Fellers) and Joe Hicken of Grand Island; three granddaugters, Rylie, Kylee and Isabella and one grandson, Conner; his mother, Helen Harvey of St. Paul; one brother, Eric Harvey and his fiancé© Shanon of Phillips; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jolene Killinger of St. Libory, Bonnie and Scot Stevenson of St. Paul and Julie and Dan Burkhardt of Ravenna; and eight nephews and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Harvey, Jr.
