Alyce M. Jacobsen, 88, of St. Paul died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Matelyn Retirement Community in St. Paul, Nebraska. She moved to Matelyn in July 2006.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., Saturday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. A family graveside service will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. The Reverend Randy Dilts will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the Howard County Medical Center Foundation.
Alyce was born September 24, 1923 in rural Farwell, Nebraska to John M. & Marie (Reimers) Harvey.
She grew up and attended school at Dannebrog and graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1942.
Alyce was united in marriage to Donald L. Jacobsen on August 29, 1945 in Grand Island, Nebraska.
To this union, the couple was blessed with one child, Jarold.
The couple lived near St. Paul, where she continued to work as a homemaker, taking care of their son Jarold and loved being a farmer's wife.
Alyce enjoyed reading and baking. Donald and Alyce always enjoyed their many trips through the country to look at the crops and nature as well as their trips around the state of Nebraska.
She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Jarold L. & Linda S. Jacobsen of St. Paul; two grandchildren, Amy Brown of Curtis, NE and Adam Jacobsen of St. Paul; seven great grandchildren, Connor, Alissa, Joseph, Madison, Ethan, Dakota and Paden.
Alyce is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, one brother Walter Harvey and two sisters, Evelyn Sorensen and Elsie Madsen.
