Allan L. Fieldgrove

Allan L. Fieldgrove, 86, of Grand Island died Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Grand Island.

For those who would care to remember Allan, memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Grand Island.  William Ristov will officiate.

Inurnment will be held later in the Elba Cemetery in Elba.

Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.

Allan was born May 2, 1931 on a farm in the Sodtown-St. Michael area to John H. and Katherine (Hetrick) Fieldgrove, Sr.

He was raised near his birthplace where he attended school.

In his younger years, he worked for different people in a haymill and trucking.

He entered the United States Army in 1952.  He served in Korea and Germany in the 102 Infantry, 155th Field Artillery.  He received his discharge in 1954.

Allan was married to Sue Pracht on March 10, 1957 in Broken Bow.

He drove trucks and lived in the Sargent, Litchfield and Ansley areas.  He later bought a farm near Elba where he farmed and he and Sue raised their family.

His wife Sue died on September 14, 2007.  In 2008, Allan moved to Grand Island where he lived for the remainder of his life.

Allan liked to fix different items and cars.  He had a special cat that he enjoyed taking with him.  What was especially important to Allan was telling people about the Bible and helping anyone who was in need.

He was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses and was baptized in 1974.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Fieldgrove of Grand Island; a son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Deb Fieldgrove of Sumerton, Arizona; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Sherman and Julie Fieldgrove of Kearney and a sister, Iona Bristol of Burwell and his beloved cat, Greytail.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sue; a son, Nicky Fieldgrove; a grandson, Andy Fieldgrove; brothers and sisters, Amos, Olive, John Jr., Katherine, Lorraine, Henry, Cal, Esther, and Franklin.

The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during Allan’s illness.
