Alice Arlene Henningsen, 88, of St. Paul formerly of Omaha, Nebraska died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday at Crosby, Burket, Swanson-Golden Chapel, 11902 W. Center Road in Omaha. Interment will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Arlene was born September 14, 1923 at St. Paul, Nebraska to Leslie and Alice (Jorgensen) Fairbairn.
She attended grade school at District 52 near Farwell. She then attended high school in Farwell and then transferred to St. Paul in 1936. She graduated from St. Paul High School in 1940.
She worked in Grand Island at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, then moved to Denver for a while where she worked there. Arlene moved to Omaha where she worked for Independent Bisquit packaging cookies and later doing office work. She then worked at Goodrich in Omaha for a short time.
Arlene was united in marriage to Carl Henningsen on July 10, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska.
The couple moved to Kearney for a short time and then moved back to Omaha. In 1959, they built a home in Omaha where they lived for 49 years. Arlene returned to Goodrich where she worked for 33 years, later working as an office manager.
Carl passed away on August 5, 1993, after 39 years of marriage.
Arlene moved into Waterford in 2008 and Brookestone in 2010 for a short time. Later in 2010, she moved to St. Paul.
She is survived by her sister & brother-in-law, Jane & Jim Kasson of St. Paul; a brother-in-law, Don McClellan of Palmer; and many nieces and nephews.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl; two sisters & a brother-in-law, Delores McClellan and Marjorie & Michael Schmidt, one niece Carolyn Kasson and a nephew Roy McClellan.
