Alan R. Rasmussen, 61, of St. Paul died Tuesday, June 09, 2015 at his home in St. Paul.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Reverend Carolyn Hellerich will officiate. A family inurnment will be held at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
There will not be any visitation for Mr. Rasmussen.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or the Howard County Medical Center Foundation.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rasmussen was born December 3, 1953 in St. Paul to Harold and Veola (Dethlefs) Rasmussen.
Alan was baptized into the Christian Faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cushing. He was confirmed at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul where he and his family were charter members and Alan still had his membership.
Alan grew up on a farm north of St. Paul overlooking the North Loup River. He attended St. Paul Public School and graduated in 1973. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Studies from Dana College.
Alan had been employed by Reams Lawn Service for several years.
He will be remembered for his penchant for news. His many interests included exotic poultry, plant and tree species, science fiction, American Legion baseball games, and most of all, visiting with anyone who would take the time to stop by.
Survivors include three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Ana Rasmussen of Washington, DC, Paul and Gay Lee Rasmussen of Pendleton, OR and Lyle and Carol Rasmussen of St. Paul; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Karen Siefering of Hereford, AZ and Jean and Gordon Brown of Daytona Beach, FL; a special aunt, Lucienne Michalski of St. Paul; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Loren Siefering.
